Artificial grass price in Pakistan is usually quoted per square foot for the turf material, but an installed lawn costs more than the roll alone. The main differences are pile height, fibre density, backing, drainage and preparation of the surface below. First confirm whether the quoted amount buys one square foot, a complete mat, or a roll. Otherwise two advertised ‘grass prices’ may not be comparable at all.
Artificial grass types by pile height
Retail and specialist flooring suppliers in Pakistan list synthetic turf with various pile heights, including 10, 20, 30, 40 and 50 mm. The height describes how far the grass-like fibres extend above the backing; it does not independently establish strength, comfort or outdoor durability.

A sports-turf product and a balcony carpet can have similar-looking green fibres yet require very different base preparation. Do not choose a sports surface for play only from a decorative product’s pile height. Request a technical sheet and the appropriate safety and performance documentation for the actual use.
How to calculate the square feet you need
Measure the length and width of each rectangular section in feet and multiply them. A balcony measuring 10 feet by 12 feet has an area of 120 square feet. For L-shaped spaces, divide the floor into rectangles and add their areas. Your installer should then allow for roll widths, seams, obstacles and unavoidable cutting waste.
Material cost is generally calculated as total chargeable square feet × supplier’s material rate per square foot. For instance, a quoted rate of Rs. 150 per square foot would make the material arithmetic for exactly 120 square feet Rs. 18,000, before seams, waste, transport or fitting. This is only a calculation example, not a verified current market quote.
If a seller provides a price per square metre, convert the area rather than comparing the figures directly. One square metre is approximately 10.764 square feet. Confirm which measurement the invoice uses.
What changes the price apart from grass height?
Fibre appearance and density
Some carpets use a lighter, flatter surface; others have denser fibres or mixed tones intended to resemble a lawn. Compare actual samples in daylight. A long pile with weak backing may not be a better purchase than a shorter, more suitable product.
Backing, drainage and base preparation
Outdoor turf may have a perforated backing intended to let water pass through. That feature is useful only when the floor beneath has a working drain or appropriate fall. On a roof, trapped water can cause problems even if the turf itself contains drainage holes. Do not cover roof drainage outlets or waterproofing inspection points.
Sunlight and touch temperature
Ask whether a manufacturer documents UV stabilisation for outdoor use. Synthetic surfaces can become uncomfortable or hot under strong sun, so inspect site conditions before using turf where children, pets or barefoot adults will spend time. Do not assume an advertisement saying ‘all weather’ proves a particular safety performance.

Ask whether the price includes edging, seam material and any infill specified for the chosen turf. A professional quotation should identify the quantity, exact turf grade and any warranty terms. A material-only online rate should never be presented as an installed-project total.
Where artificial turf works and where it needs caution
A dry indoor display or temporary event surface has different requirements from a permanently exposed rooftop. Garden installations need a prepared surface and drainage plan. Balconies need correct treatment around doors and rainwater outlets. A sports area may require testing and a designed shock-absorbing system, not simply household turf pasted onto concrete.
Artificial grass also needs cleaning. Remove litter, inspect edges and seams, and follow manufacturer guidance for brushing and washing. It requires less mowing than natural grass, but it is not automatically maintenance-free.

How much is artificial grass per square foot in Pakistan?
It depends on the listed material and supplier. Compare dated per-square-foot quotations for the same pile height, backing, density and installation scope.
Is 30 mm artificial grass better than 20 mm?
Not by height alone. A denser 20 mm product could suit a balcony better than an inexpensive 30 mm turf. Select by intended use and specifications.
Can artificial grass be fitted directly on a rooftop?
Only after checking drainage, waterproofing protection, surface condition and safe fixing methods. Ask a suitable installer to inspect the site.
Does the advertised rate include fitting?
Often not. The suppliers reviewed distinguish material rates from site preparation and installation. Request an itemised final quotation.
